Biking for clean water in Phitsanulok | Bangkok Post: news

Residents in Muang district of Phitsanulok ride exercise bicycles that generate oxygen to treat the water in the moat. (Photo by Chinnawat Singha)The Phitsanulok Municipality has come up with a new idea to entice residents to take part in an effort to improve the city's water quality. "It's fun and I can help treat the water," a woman said while pedalling a bike on Sunday. The municipality has installed several small fountains in the moat to treat the water but Mr Boonsong said they were not enough to keep it clean. Pedal power, it seems, can improve health - for humans, and for the water that helps sustain them.
